Nuclear Family - S/T LP

This post from Kevin covering thier EP introduced me to this great band. I listened to that once and couldn't get my hands on it soon enough, I have since spun that record to a pulp. But I was actually getting quite frustrated because I could not find any information on this band that I love so much (just found this). Imagine my surprise when I walk into Extreme Noise to find this LP front and center. Boy it does not disappoint, 8 songs and 16 minutes of bliss in the form of female fronted melodic not-quite-hardcore punk. I am a bit conflicted about this record, because on one hand it sounds just like the 7", which is great, but I would love to hear where this band could take things. Hopefully they will show us on the next release, if there is one. Loudpunk

The Evens - S/T

The temperature is a pretty consistent 50-something degrees, the trees are beginning to look bare, it smells like dead leaves, and I have this album running through my head over and over. It must be fall. As silly as it sounds one of the best descriptions for this band that I've read is "post-post hardcore". It's exactly what you would expect when you consider who's in the band, Amy Farina and Ian MacKaye, who were in The Warmers and Fugazi respectively. The sound is somewhere between those two bands but much more mellow/mature, with Mackaye suppressing his bark and actually hitting some notes (Farina aint no slouch on vocals either). So yeah, I did another Dischord post, and these two got a kid to feed so buy it from 'em.

Reckless Aggression - Demo

This is hot hot hot. Reckless Aggression hailing from down under in the land of Australia. 9 tracks of boot boy hardcore for the alike. Singer Meatdog is a reckless aggression alone, he has "MEATDOG" tattooed on his head, and above that, a fucking spider. Killer. If you were missing the sweet licks of 86 Mentality....forget it...this is even more crucial. Total 4-Skins, Combat 84, UK Oi smashness with the real deal stompers from United Blood and Chunks. Hard. Demo released by on Urban Blight vocalist's label Combat Action Tapes, the tapes are all gone, sorry. THE BOOT BOYS ARE BACK.

Urban Blight - "More Reality" Live CS

Awesome live recording of the unbeatable Urban Blight. 25 Minute set at their release gig (with Mad Men, Waste Management & Bad Choice) for the monstrous More Reality LP at Toronto hc spot Rancho Relaxo in May of 09. They play all the songs, plus four killer covers by Negative Approach, Mental Abuse, Agnostic Front, and Crass. It's a treat.

Ben Rayner and the Pricks - Cranking To Sonic Youth CS

Ben Rayner, some 'cool' photographer (This is all I know about him) for Vice magazine gang up with Ben Cook and Jonah Falco of Fucked Up/TOHC acclaim. Recording 4 drunken uk-pub-punk smash hits including a "Sonic Youth dis track". Read the full story about this here. Released a few months ago, all gone now...rumors of a 7" and more recordings sometime? It's great.

Men's Interest - More War 7"

Hardcore lives.

Full pressing at Home Invasion soon.

The Shitty Limits - Last Orders 7"

Two new hits from UK's Shitty Limits. Newest recordings since that LP came out last year, which kind of sucked..but they're back with a few new KBD styled rippers. Not as ravaging as the early records, but a lot more exciting than that last LP, just total Dangerhouse worship. Can't get enough of these vocals. Released by UK label La Vida Es Un Mus, limited to 394 and already sold out. Someone tell this band to repress the first two 7"s already.

White Shit - White Shi'ite 10"

If you didn't buy the White Shit LP on PPM last year, you're a fucking idiot. White Shit are a masterful gang of nervous perverts. Hailing Andy Coronado of Nazti Skinz/Wrangler Brutes/Skull Kontrol/etc and the two dudes that are in Big Business/Melvins. Very unsettling shit here, lyrically and visually. White Shit are basically the restoration of the late Wrangler Brutes- taking the imaginative shredding and those strapping bass lines...only without the unbeatable Sam McPheeters on the mic. Real killer record. Three songs, including a daunting cover of the GISM's "Fire". Out last year on Wantage USA.

Male Nurses - S/T

I got this hot slab of wax about a week ago at Extreme Noise when Kevin -being the bum that he is- said that I should get it because he wanted to hear it. It didn't look bad so I thought "fuck it, why not?" And Jesus H. Christ, this shit rips! They sound a lot like Guilty Faces, and being from the same area we thought that they might share a member or two, but it must just be that great minds think alike. The only problem with this is the hole in the record is a bit small so it's hard to get off, it doesn't really matter though, you're not going to want to take it off anyways. Get it from the always great Deranged Records.

Walls - 2010 Tour 7"

I bought this at that Mind Eraser / Slang show too. Surprisingly, Jensen of Iron Lung HQ was filling in on drums for Mind Eraser so he had all of his shit for sale as well. Walls finally offer some new rippers after touring off those two 12"s for almost the past two years. This single has two new downer, Rorschach-esque, savage slammers and a delightful cover of the great Midwest USHC champions, Die Kreuzen. Very nice screened covers on this record too. This is only available on tour directly from the band. I expect many more exciting things from Walls, and the already empirical Iron Lung label.

Warning//Warning - My World 7"

If you haven't heard the Warning//Warning demo of last year yet, please get yer head out of yr ass. I'm kind of confused by this band though...They're from France, but sing in English, but have Japanese song titles/printed lyrics. I don't think anyone in this band is from Japan either, "Fabro, Nico, Olive, and Fish" all sound pretty frenchie to me. I also don't know if they're just a bunch of French hipsters that discovered recordings sound 'cool' if you set up a recorder in a tin-can across the room combined with delayed vocals, and somehow got a cool graphic designer to punk-out all their artwork. Whatever. Who cares. This shit is great. Total Japanese noisecore worship, in the vein of bands like Tranquilizer, Confuse, Coward etc. Classic "broken english" styled lyrics and killer wah-pedal effects too. I guess some of these dudes were in that french raw-punk band Gasmask Terror. Hope this guys head to the states soon. The first track is titled in Japanese text, but, I obviously don't know Japanese, or where to find those stupid characters on the internet, so deal with it. You can download their demo and new cassingle at their fancy website. Contact the band for a copy. warningwarning[at]riseup.net. Enjoy.

Ecoli - Swarm On The Swine 7"

Three new cuts from these Bay Area freaks. Weirdest recordings so far from Ecoli. Taking their sound to a whole new level of filthy, unrelenting innovation. Some real creepy crawly lyrics on here too, "Melting meat globs released, dirty puddles of feces". Sadly this EP is short, I wish there were at least 3 more tracks on here. Still quite fantastic though. If you liked Ecoli's previous recordings, be sure to pick this papi up. Brought to you by Stress Domain Records. Don't miss these surfin' California hotties on tour, that's on the road right now.

The A-Team - Clusterfuck 7"

Some essential early 2000's Boston HC right for yas. One of the more under-rated/under-listened bands of that era, the A-TEAM. This shit is the REAL DEAL and just plain hard. Also probably one of the best cuts of the early 00's. Killer riffs, crucial mosh parts, and some nasty hooks, making this 7" a true "no slow all go" masterpiece. If any record could amount to heroin or something...this might be it. I'd been meaning to listen to this band for so long and could never find copies off or online, but finally snagged a copy of off ebay recently, so here it is. This is also Painkiller 001. Rip it up.

Sorry Excuse - Listen With Prejudice 7"

Another batch of sweet grooves from the seemingly most bleak area east of the rockies: Kansas City. SorryxExcuse hammer though 8 straight edge dazzlers in exactly 5 minutes. Sorry Excuse bring a step forward in HC2k10, tossing out any hint of top 40 HC bullshit or the mystery punk burden, but bringing back the ravaging speed and energy of the Repos with the hard mosh rules from the Lockin' Out empire. Half these dogs also jam with No Class. Shoot yourself in the foot if you missed their little east coast excursion a few weeks ago. This is the just the tour version, got dis at their gig in Chicago a few weeks ago, regular copies are yet to be available. Peep ThirdxParty records till the record gets it's proper release, maybe contact them for some extra tour copies. Killer stuff all around here.

Waste Managment - Waste Taste 2010 CS

The new cassette by Boston freaks Waste Management. First offering of hot rockin' slamjams since the 2007 masterpiece Get You Mind Right 7". The Waste return with six new cuts and the live recordings from Edge Day 2008 featuring covers of THE ABUSED and DYS. Too loko to say more. These rippers may see the light of day on wax sooner or later yeah? Hopefully? This is probably still around. Ask a punk. You Gotta Use Your Mind!
