TOP 10 DEMOS/CASSTTES OF 2010

1. Boston Strangler - Outcast
Wowie, this guy is the most exiting demo I've heard all year, not by far though. These tracks just flat out fucking rule. It makes me want to steal a motorcycle and beat up nerds, or something. Yeah. Nothing more to say here. When I pre-ordered the tape, I think I was most excited to get the BXS pin... :O. Pick it up at No Way records if there be any left.
download here.

2. Neon Blud - Whipps
I remember hearing this one early in the 2k10, maybe it was even December 09? But whatever, this one is a goodie and I'm sure everyone agrees. Top notch punk tapping into the sounds brought by the early NYC NO WAVE scene. The femme vocals on here are strikingly eery, but also come as deeply lulling. The guitar noises, are just plain genius! Tape has been looong gone, but has been pressed to seven inches via Fan Death recs. Their new LP is out now, and is also GREAT.
download here.

3. Weird TV - Demo
Olympia launches out ANOTHER killer band. Wow, there's at least 6 or 7 active bands from that area that are just the cat's pajamas, see: PERENNIAL DEATH. This demo is allll bliss. Easy, snotty, groovy, punk with some sweet sweet female vocals mostly sung in Spanish! What we got here is some perfectly executed late 70's California punk stuff and THEN SOME. Reminds me a lot of the arty-er bands like NO TREND, but it also mostly brings to mind a lot of U.X.A. & the FLESHEATERS stuff; basically just a sweet blend of bands off the TOOTH & NAIL comp. Killer! Here's a vid of them kicking it live, & covering TOTAL ABUSE hehe. Cant wait for the 7".
download here.

4. Reckless Aggression - Demo 2010
You saw the post back from September. DUH. Guess they be doin' a new 7"? Rumor? The demo is getting pressed as a 7" by some dumb top40HXC label, get at it if you didn't grab the demo. download here. ALSO, here's a recording of some rehearsal with some UNHEARD TRAX download that here.

5. Perdition - 9 Track Kassett
YEAH!!!!!! Perdition fucking kill. I think I took the best punk photo ever when I saw them in NYC back in October, see it in FA #1's centerfold. Fucking NUTZO raw punk, and my favorite of the whole NYC gang. Long live raw punk 2.0. This one is allll Dis-Dis-Distort. download here.

6. No Class - Demo
I posted this baybay soon after I bought it back in April. You've probably heard it already, and their LP too, but I think it deserves a spot here. TUFF hardcore from dudes that are obviously not tough. Apparently the Deranged dawg dropped in on that LP cause he peeped on here first. COOL. The LP is pretty good too. Interviewed in FA #1 as well. "hot". download here.

7. Pukeoid - Demo
Real deal North West Indiana hardcore punk. Paying true homage to blazing midwest USHC. I'm talkin' NECROS, WILLFUL NEGLECT, THE FIX, and all the classics. A modern masterpiece. Favorite part of the tape is at the very beginning of the first track, with the Bass/Snare stomp. DIRTY. Yeah...this one was on repeat the most for me. 7" out on NOT NORMAL soon. Should be real sweet. download here.

8. Mauser - Summer Tour Tape
Uploaded on here recently, but WOW, yes, great tape. I got this in a trade with the dude from Vinyl Rites down in Florida. Turning me into possibly their biggest fan! Cannot wait for the 7", which should be widely available very soon hopefully. download here.

9. Warning//Warning - Nuclear Cult
Great little follow up to their excellent "My World" 7" (which is surely in my top10 7" list). Just more terrorizing noise bomb anthemz! CaN U NuKe It? download here.

10. Waste Management - Waste Taste 2010
Three words: TOO MUCH UNITY. download here.

Gordy's Best of 2010 pt.1

I thought it would be pretty easy to figure out what my top ten albums of the year were, but then I actually looked at the records that came out this year and I couldn't even bring it down to ten. So here's my top ten EPs and top ten LPs in alphabetical order.

Top Extended Plays
-Bukkake Boys - 2nd EP - Sorry State --- Download
I think every review I've read has said the true statement of "stupid name, great tunes."

-Canadian Rifle - Facts - Residue --- Download
Seeing them live a few weeks ago made me wish I lived in Chicago, just so I could see them more.

-The Ergs! - Thrash Compacter - Grave Mistake/Firestarter --- Download
Got 3 minutes to kill? Not what you would expect from a Pop-Punk band.

-Leather - Anchorite - Caesar Cuts --- Download
They tore it up live, the record is no different.

-Male Nurses - S/T - Deranged --- Download - original post
As a wise man once said "The hooks on this record make me squeal."

-Much Worse - Proper Execute - Pass Judgement --- Download - original post
I know, "get off Kevin's dick" right? But really, best album to drive to this year.

-P.S. Eliot - Living In Squalor - Freedom School --- Download
Great follow up to the LP, can't wait for more.

-School Jerks - Decline - Cowabunga --- Download
I forgot how good this record is, but after just listening to it, it edged out Condominium for this spot.

-Sinks - I Drove The Sinks - Fashionable Idiots --- Download
They sure know how to go out in style, probably their best.

-The U.V. Race - I Hate You - Fashionable Idiots --- Download
I've gone days with Garbage In My Heart stuck in my head.

Gordy's Best of 2010 pt.2

Top Long Players
-Autistic Youth - Idle Minds - Dirtnap/Black Water --- Download
One of the best bands going comes out with their 6,000th awesome record

-The Corin Tucker Band - 1,000 Years - Kill Rock Stars --- Download
Triumphant return from one of my favorite people ever. I like this for a lot of the same reasons that I like The Evens.

-The Dopamines - Expect The Worst - Paper and Plastic --- Download
Top of the line pop-punk from Ohio-a-whoa-o.

-Double Negative - Daydreamnation - Sorry State --- Download
Lots of hype about this album, all of it well deserved.

-Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Rush To Relax - Goner --- Download
Punk? Pop? Jangly Rock?... Who gives a shit? Its Great.

-The Estranged - The Subliminal Man - Dirtnap --- Download
A little more spacey then previous efforts, but the Wipers influence is still there.

-Nuclear Family - S/T LP - Loudpunk --- Download - original post
If their EP was 5 songs longer this would be it, which is fine by me.

-Red Dons - Fake Meets Failure - Deranged --- Download
I got one of the EPs and didn't like it much, but this blew my socks off.

-Title Tracks - It Was Easy - Ernest Jenning/Safety Meeting --- Download
You're probably thinking "WTF is this shit?" Its John Davis (Q And Not U) playing Pop, and it's dope.

-White Lung - It's The Evil - Deranged --- Download
A few chicks and a dude makin' it happen. punk as fuckkkkk.

Vom - Live at Surf City 7"

VOM RULES. Essential late 70's LA hit. These songs are so addicting it's nuts. This be their only record, but there's a live bootleg out there somewhere. VOM were basically a little pre-Angry Samoans project with Gregg Turner and Kevin Saunders. Hilarious lyrics and dangerously catchy licks. Possibly the only real punk band.

download here.

Check this sick vid too.

Glam - S/T 7"

First recordings from Barcelona's GLAM. Dick ripping Spanish hardcore punk reaving in the vein of early 80's international frenzies like Lixomania from Brazil, Italy's Declino, or more recently Spains own Invasion/Destino Final. A nice little modern taste of wild euro hc. Ex-members of Über, whom I've never heard, I suppose I'll check them out too. The rip is from the band. Don't have this one quite yet! This one's out on LAVIDAESENLAMUS. US people hit up Grave Mistake to get on this. Cover art- witchybaby?

Killed By Deaf

Alright, I'm fucking bored. I'm under about 20 inches of snow in Minneapolis right now so I just thought I'd share some of my top fave KBD singles while I sit inside all fucking day (not like I ever go outdoors anyways). Check out this new KBD reissue label called Last Laugh Records. Better to spend 8 bux rather than 200, right?

1. Satans Rats - You Make Me Sick
Total UK punk slammer. You'll be singin' this one all the way to boozetown. B-side kinda sucks though.
2. The Delinquents - Alien Beach Party
Very new-wavey, 2nd track makes me real horny.
3. Freestone - Bummer Bitch
SUCK MY DICK, EAT MY ASS, LICK MY BALLS.
4. Cracked Actor - Nazi School
Both tracks are quite dangerous. Zieg Heil.
5. The Haskels - Taking The City By Storm
Four sweet sweet midwest punk hits. Love the shit out of this one.
6. The Numbers - EP
Aussie punk, a bit power-poppy, still killer. The track 'Private Eyes' is priceless.
7. The Dils - I Hate The Rich
Contains possibly the catchiest chorus ever?
8. Non Compos Mentis - Ultimate Orgasm
"You don't a need girl...or a boy..."
9. The Skunks - Cant Get Loose
EARTHQUAKE SHAKE, the fave off Bloodstains Across Texas
10. GG Allin - You Hate Me and I Hate You
Yup.
11. Hates - EP
One essential ass tejas rec.
12. Silly Killers - Knife Manual
Mean, lean, 'n not too clean.
13. Mentally Ill - Gacy's Place
Duh.
14. Die Electric Eels - Cyclotron
Favorite clevo single.
15. X-X - S/T
Juicy ex-Electric Eels fart punk.

40 Total trax of sweet skuzz. Download 'em all here.

Total Control - "Retiree b/w Meds 2" & "Stare Way"

Okay, Lemme talk about this record since it's the one I heard first out of the two. I first bought this on a whim at Permanent records earlier this year, only knowing that it had members of Eddy Current and SJN/UV Race. At this point, I think it was in February, or March, when I was really digging deep on synthpunk naughties like Nervous Gender, as well as a lot of minimal synth//postpunk shit like Minimal Man and and Snowy Red, so it was perfect timing...and I loved the fuck out of this rec, probably didn't leave my turntable for a few days. Total Control is genius really, reviving the minimal synth and experimental post-punk eras and throwing it out to a hc/punk audience (this one is on Iron Lung Recs). "Retiree" is a dance-y, synth heavy hit, definitely taking strong sides of the french 80's coldwave scene as well as the LA synthpunk groups ala NervGender and the Screamers; it makes me real hot. The b-side is a dark, cold, bleed-out track, which sucks out all my loneliness. SOYOUNGBUTSOCOLD.
This is still available I think @ Iron Lung HQ--- It also looks like Iron Lung has an LP for Total Control in the near future - hope I don't pee my pants.

download here.

So it wasn't until about 6 months after I got the Retiree 7" that I heard the Stare Way 7" which came out in like fucking...2008 or something. I had been looking for it, but couldn't find it online and the record had been sold out for sometime already. I hadn't even come across 'Stare Way' until after I saw em live w/ UV Race. So eventually I found a link online and GOD, I came- I was floored really. This first record is so so so much different than the "Retiree" record, and 100% captures the steeze of their live gigs. On this one, there's hardly any use of synths or electronics, but rockin' guitars and smashing live drums. I kind of think of it as the 'HARDPUNK' EddyCurrent. The shit's realfast, realgroovy, ohsocatchy, and those Australian accents....makin' my heart throb. A killerkiller Swell Maps cover is on here too, one of my true favorite bands. This record really has infinite replay value. Smart Guy records just repressed this rec in the states, as well as a new single for Total Control titled "Paranoid Video", which traverses more into the world of new-wave minimal synth for the 2k10 (WINDOWS XP SAMPLES!!). Peep it all here. If you haven't kicked these guys yet, now's yr chance. P.S. Anyone know what the fuck's up with the cover art? Mysterious guy stingray? They look kinda cute.

The UV Race - Homo CS

God. I FUCKING LOVE The UV Race. Got to see them three fucking times in September, along with Total Control (who are absolutely mind blowing live). Honestly, they are the best punk band right meow-not many bands get the hair on my neck to stand on end. Anyways..new tape I picked up from em when they played Chicago, all these tracks are going onto an LP that should be available real soon, (not sure who's putting it out). 10 more brilliant tracks of fuzzed out punk the way Aussies have always been kickin' it (see: The Victims, The Clean, The Numbers, etc.). On this guy there's a bit more discordant noisey bumps and experimentation (the LP spans almost 35 minutes), but still perfectly captures the catchy KBD garage steeze. Ripped in two tracks, sorry, shit would have taken forever.

Note: This is a just a cassette rip. Buy the LP when it comes out for the real deal.

download here.

Sucked Dry CS

Another killer band coming out of the woodwork in Kansas City. Sucked Dry have existed for a bit but haven't released much, maybe just a demo? I'm not sure how to describe this... The recordings are fairly 'modern' sounding, not the monolithic 'fast n pissed' get up, but it does kinda has the same production of a Ceremony record or something...but without the faggotry. Solid stuff. I haven't listened to something this fast in a while. Peep it.

download here.

Mauser - 2010 Summer Tour EP

Crushing raw punk from Gainesville, Florida!! Totål Kaaos, Disorder, Anti-Cimex worship. I'm obsessed with how much this sounds just like Crude SS, PERFECT. I interviewed Mauser for the first issue of the printed Fashionable Activism zine, which should be out soon, so look for that! This is their first release, no demo. 7" on Vinyl Rites next month! Raw Punk 2.0 in full effect! Hails. Band contact: Mauserpunk[at]gmail.com

Omegas - Joyboy Mix Vol. 1

Quirky little mixtape from the mighty Omegas. Feat. live and unreleased Omegas bombs, Bad Choice and Urban Blight traxx, songs about hoagies, "Louie, Louie", and more. A full hours worth of skuzz. B-Side is a full recording of one of their sets.

Nuclear Family - S/T LP

This post from Kevin covering thier EP introduced me to this great band. I listened to that once and couldn't get my hands on it soon enough, I have since spun that record to a pulp. But I was actually getting quite frustrated because I could not find any information on this band that I love so much (just found this). Imagine my surprise when I walk into Extreme Noise to find this LP front and center. Boy it does not disappoint, 8 songs and 16 minutes of bliss in the form of female fronted melodic not-quite-hardcore punk. I am a bit conflicted about this record, because on one hand it sounds just like the 7", which is great, but I would love to hear where this band could take things. Hopefully they will show us on the next release, if there is one. Loudpunk

The Evens - S/T

The temperature is a pretty consistent 50-something degrees, the trees are beginning to look bare, it smells like dead leaves, and I have this album running through my head over and over. It must be fall. As silly as it sounds one of the best descriptions for this band that I've read is "post-post hardcore". It's exactly what you would expect when you consider who's in the band, Amy Farina and Ian MacKaye, who were in The Warmers and Fugazi respectively. The sound is somewhere between those two bands but much more mellow/mature, with Mackaye suppressing his bark and actually hitting some notes (Farina aint no slouch on vocals either). So yeah, I did another Dischord post, and these two got a kid to feed so buy it from 'em.

Reckless Aggression - Demo

This is hot hot hot. Reckless Aggression hailing from down under in the land of Australia. 9 tracks of boot boy hardcore for the alike. Singer Meatdog is a reckless aggression alone, he has "MEATDOG" tattooed on his head, and above that, a fucking spider. Killer. If you were missing the sweet licks of 86 Mentality....forget it...this is even more crucial. Total 4-Skins, Combat 84, UK Oi smashness with the real deal stompers from United Blood and Chunks. Hard. Demo released by on Urban Blight vocalist's label Combat Action Tapes, the tapes are all gone, sorry. THE BOOT BOYS ARE BACK.

Urban Blight - "More Reality" Live CS

Awesome live recording of the unbeatable Urban Blight. 25 Minute set at their release gig (with Mad Men, Waste Management & Bad Choice) for the monstrous More Reality LP at Toronto hc spot Rancho Relaxo in May of 09. They play all the songs, plus four killer covers by Negative Approach, Mental Abuse, Agnostic Front, and Crass. It's a treat.

Ben Rayner and the Pricks - Cranking To Sonic Youth CS

Ben Rayner, some 'cool' photographer (This is all I know about him) for Vice magazine gang up with Ben Cook and Jonah Falco of Fucked Up/TOHC acclaim. Recording 4 drunken uk-pub-punk smash hits including a "Sonic Youth dis track". Read the full story about this here. Released a few months ago, all gone now...rumors of a 7" and more recordings sometime? It's great.

Men's Interest - More War 7"

Hardcore lives.

Full pressing at Home Invasion soon.

download here.

The Shitty Limits - Last Orders 7"

Two new hits from UK's Shitty Limits. Newest recordings since that LP came out last year, which kind of sucked..but they're back with a few new KBD styled rippers. Not as ravaging as the early records, but a lot more exciting than that last LP, just total Dangerhouse worship. Can't get enough of these vocals. Released by UK label La Vida Es Un Mus, limited to 394 and already sold out. Someone tell this band to repress the first two 7"s already.

download here.

White Shit - White Shi'ite 10"

If you didn't buy the White Shit LP on PPM last year, you're a fucking idiot. White Shit are a masterful gang of nervous perverts. Hailing Andy Coronado of Nazti Skinz/Wrangler Brutes/Skull Kontrol/etc and the two dudes that are in Big Business/Melvins. Very unsettling shit here, lyrically and visually. White Shit are basically the restoration of the late Wrangler Brutes- taking the imaginative shredding and those strapping bass lines...only without the unbeatable Sam McPheeters on the mic. Real killer record. Three songs, including a daunting cover of the GISM's "Fire". Out last year on Wantage USA.

Male Nurses - S/T

I got this hot slab of wax about a week ago at Extreme Noise when Kevin -being the bum that he is- said that I should get it because he wanted to hear it. It didn't look bad so I thought "fuck it, why not?" And Jesus H. Christ, this shit rips! They sound a lot like Guilty Faces, and being from the same area we thought that they might share a member or two, but it must just be that great minds think alike. The only problem with this is the hole in the record is a bit small so it's hard to get off, it doesn't really matter though, you're not going to want to take it off anyways. Get it from the always great Deranged Records.

Walls - 2010 Tour 7"

I bought this at that Mind Eraser / Slang show too. Surprisingly, Jensen of Iron Lung HQ was filling in on drums for Mind Eraser so he had all of his shit for sale as well. Walls finally offer some new rippers after touring off those two 12"s for almost the past two years. This single has two new downer, Rorschach-esque, savage slammers and a delightful cover of the great Midwest USHC champions, Die Kreuzen. Very nice screened covers on this record too. This is only available on tour directly from the band. I expect many more exciting things from Walls, and the already empirical Iron Lung label.

download here.

Warning//Warning - My World 7"

If you haven't heard the Warning//Warning demo of last year yet, please get yer head out of yr ass. I'm kind of confused by this band though...They're from France, but sing in English, but have Japanese song titles/printed lyrics. I don't think anyone in this band is from Japan either, "Fabro, Nico, Olive, and Fish" all sound pretty frenchie to me. I also don't know if they're just a bunch of French hipsters that discovered recordings sound 'cool' if you set up a recorder in a tin-can across the room combined with delayed vocals, and somehow got a cool graphic designer to punk-out all their artwork. Whatever. Who cares. This shit is great. Total Japanese noisecore worship, in the vein of bands like Tranquilizer, Confuse, Coward etc. Classic "broken english" styled lyrics and killer wah-pedal effects too. I guess some of these dudes were in that french raw-punk band Gasmask Terror. Hope this guys head to the states soon. The first track is titled in Japanese text, but, I obviously don't know Japanese, or where to find those stupid characters on the internet, so deal with it. You can download their demo and new cassingle at their fancy website. Contact the band for a copy. warningwarning[at]riseup.net. Enjoy.

download here.

Ecoli - Swarm On The Swine 7"

Three new cuts from these Bay Area freaks. Weirdest recordings so far from Ecoli. Taking their sound to a whole new level of filthy, unrelenting innovation. Some real creepy crawly lyrics on here too, "Melting meat globs released, dirty puddles of feces". Sadly this EP is short, I wish there were at least 3 more tracks on here. Still quite fantastic though. If you liked Ecoli's previous recordings, be sure to pick this papi up. Brought to you by Stress Domain Records. Don't miss these surfin' California hotties on tour, that's on the road right now.

download here.

The A-Team - Clusterfuck 7"

Some essential early 2000's Boston HC right for yas. One of the more under-rated/under-listened bands of that era, the A-TEAM. This shit is the REAL DEAL and just plain hard. Also probably one of the best cuts of the early 00's. Killer riffs, crucial mosh parts, and some nasty hooks, making this 7" a true "no slow all go" masterpiece. If any record could amount to heroin or something...this might be it. I'd been meaning to listen to this band for so long and could never find copies off or online, but finally snagged a copy of off ebay recently, so here it is. This is also Painkiller 001. Rip it up.

Sorry Excuse - Listen With Prejudice 7"

Another batch of sweet grooves from the seemingly most bleak area east of the rockies: Kansas City. SorryxExcuse hammer though 8 straight edge dazzlers in exactly 5 minutes. Sorry Excuse bring a step forward in HC2k10, tossing out any hint of top 40 HC bullshit or the mystery punk burden, but bringing back the ravaging speed and energy of the Repos with the hard mosh rules from the Lockin' Out empire. Half these dogs also jam with No Class. Shoot yourself in the foot if you missed their little east coast excursion a few weeks ago. This is the just the tour version, got dis at their gig in Chicago a few weeks ago, regular copies are yet to be available. Peep ThirdxParty records till the record gets it's proper release, maybe contact them for some extra tour copies. Killer stuff all around here.

Waste Managment - Waste Taste 2010 CS

The new cassette by Boston freaks Waste Management. First offering of hot rockin' slamjams since the 2007 masterpiece Get You Mind Right 7". The Waste return with six new cuts and the live recordings from Edge Day 2008 featuring covers of THE ABUSED and DYS. Too loko to say more. These rippers may see the light of day on wax sooner or later yeah? Hopefully? This is probably still around. Ask a punk. You Gotta Use Your Mind!

download here.

Chrome Jesus - Anti Aquarian CS

New synth heavy release from the hand(s) of hardcore playboi #1 Wes Eisold. 13 minutes of cool electronic stuff similar to tracks off Cold Cave's - Cremations LP. Prolly doing a disservice by posting it here since I know dick about this styling of music...but..check it out . Released by Hospital Records and sold out real fast like.

Total Abuse - Mutt LP

All hail Total Abuse. The Mutt is here. Breeding the ravaging early 80s hardcore punk sound with the abrasive dissonance and construction of UK powerelectronics. Full of hot riffs and excruciating noise for the most sophisticated of mysterious guy hardcore fans. This halfbred mongrel is out now on PPM, also available at your local Best Buy.

Fourteen or Fight - S/T 7"

The Chicago hardcore 7" of the 2000's is right here. Fourteen or fucking Fight! Raging, raw, straight forward hardcore with catchy hooks & tasteful pinches of melody while still staying aggressive and capturing the 80s USHC style. Probably best known for doing the split with the Repos, but sadly get hardly any attention beyond that. The band started as ex-Charles Bronson/MK-Ultra, now these dudes are still shredding in bands like Manipulation, Herds, Chronic Siezure RIP. This Lengua Armada hit has been out of the press for quite some time, good luck finding this gem. A true classic.

Condominium - Gag 7"

The 4th vinyl offering slung by the monumental Condominium. Another single to add on to their growing empire of triumphant releases. The record starts with 7 minute epic jangle "Gag", then leads to the hard hitting squall, "Redemption Song", not unlike the hit of their last 7", "Barricade". Then the record ends with a rattling instrumental track that could be taken right off Death In June's - The Guilty Have No Pride. Another excellent effort by this Minneapolis (now) trio. Released by Deer Healer Records, head over to their catalog for purchase, not many copies left. This is not to miss.

Operation Makeout - Hang Loose

Here's an awesome band that I've rediscovered in a big bad way the past couple weeks. I first found out about Operation Makeout a few years ago when I was first getting heavy into Sleater-Kinney and wanted to find something akin to them. And yes they do sound a lot like S-K, but one thing they do not have that this band does is some great dueling male/female vocals at times reminiscent of X. It seems that people have pretty much forgotten about them (if they even bothered to learn in the first place) which is a shame because a lot of people are missing out on some catchy tunes.

Members of past KC ragers Black Mark & Wound Up. "You're Over" is the fucking jam. Mosh. E-mail the band for a copy ~ noclassnoclassnoclass[at]gmail.com | thewayyoutreatme.blogspot.com

Young Governor - Guv Luv Mix Tape Vol. 1

Following the same direction as Fucked Up with their handful of "Mixtapes" they've released over the years. Young Guv brings us his Mixtape featuring unreleased recordings of Marvelous Darlings, The Bitters, and Guv himself. Strange and hilarious Remixes, odd samples, and random audio like "A Christmas Message from Dwid Hellion" on Fucked Up's 3rd Mixtape. The hit on here is "Jonas Brothers ft. Demi Levato and Guv - This Is Me". The mixtape ends with Guv saying, "This is the stupidest thing I've ever done". Almost a half hour of entertainment and hot fuzzed-out punk jams. Was available for a while, now sold out. Enjoy.

Omegas - Psycho Dives on Slam Skank Anthems

Canada strengthens their reigns on hardcore with Montreal's, Omegas. Psycho Dives on Slam Skank Anthems was their first offering released back in late 2008 then pressed to wax in 09. This 4 song demo is six minutes of everything that I love about hardcore. Omegas keep things loose, bringing to mind some Boston favorites ala DYS and jams off Is This My World?& maybe a little bit of Government Issue. Recording on this release is off-the-wall perfect, Jonah Falco must have had some kind of touch to this fierce demo. As the title suggests, there's no real better way to describe this perfect release other than Psycho Dives on Slam Skank Anthems. This tape is finally sold out but a new Omegas 7" is out now on High Anxiety records- Copies are in the Parts Unknown store as well. KICK IT.

Another killer band from the Bay Area. Vaccuum feature klans from the Repercussions, Morpheme, and some other California rippers. Vaccuum offer some violent turbulence with 9 tracks of blistering international hardcore outcry. Lot's of piercing, noisy GISM-esque guitar tones with an assault of speedy Scandinavian hardcore a long the lines of Headcleaners & Terveet Kadet. Send $4ppd to VLARUSSA@GMAIL.COM for a copy of this monster of a demo.
