Faint of heart need not listen, with the title track making the case to join the Klan, if only to break up the monotony of suburban life. Another ripper closes side A, then a slow burner on the flip featuring the "random musings of a paranoid dildo". This one's a bit old (?) and they have since switched up the vocal duties and released a hot new LP. More on that later (maybe).

This four cut slab has been one of my more frequent jams for well over a year now. I had foolishly avoided it for a while because of the artwork (it still kinda irks me). Then after seeing plenty of reviews saying that it has a strong D.C. influence, I was game. This EP was a lead up of sorts to their S/T LP, which is good, though the production on that seems muffled and lacks the same punch that makes this record shine. I haven't really kept up on what Pregnant have been up to lately, but I hope another banger like this one is in the cards.

I missed these Syracuse gals & guy a couple weeks ago when they came into town. Luckily they left a few copies of their spankin new LP around. Kind of your typical Noise/Rock/Punk thing going on here, but with a few twists. 1) Female vocals, which are always a plus in my book. 2) At times very melodic, sure still noisy as fuck, but if you can sift through the ruckus it could almost be poppy. 3) Lyrics about relationships, it's pretty odd for a band of this type, but a welcome change of pace from the "deranged", or ones that hardly (or don't) make sense that you'd usually hear with this genre. I hope I didn't just give you the impression that this band is a female fronted Pop-Punk band with some static... I can assure you they are not that.

I was floored when I stumbled upon this yesterday, and the news only got better when I did some research and found out that they plan to have another out by the end of summer. Yep, that's right for those keeping score: In 2(?)+ years as a functioning band = 1 record. In the year er so since they've called it a day = 3 records (2pac joke). Probably not their best, but it's hard to judge against such insta classix as Smokin' Fuckin' Cigs and PCP. Oh baby.

It's about time Career Suicide returned to the pit. It's been almost three years since 'Cherry Beach Mk. I' was released, honestly, I kind of forgot they were still together, though I did end up seeing them in St. Louis yesteryear which was BOMB. Obviously, this is their new record with the two original tracks from the Cherry Beach '2008 Tour' 7", plus two new cuts, which are TOTAL BANGERS. This time they've recorded in a studio adding maximum smack and zest. Some might say Career Suicide are 'past their prime', but these tracks might be the catchiest yet of the triumphant CS catalog. Good recording of this 35 minute live gig that took place somewhere in Australia in late 2009. From what I can tell it's mostly songs off 'Babylon Rules', didn't recognize a few, maybe those are the 'unreleased' tracks, idunno. "Scathing banter". The 'Nevermind' issue turned out great though, get it if you can. Cheers.

A little bummed I had to wait over a year to hear more Yadokai cuts after first bumping that little masterpiece of a demo. But yeah, this shit is nuts. I swear the bass and guitars are samples from the 'alien talk' in that badass blockbuster hit 'District 9'. If you didn't know, Yadokai is doogs from ECOLI, MORPHEME, & FACE THE RAIL, playing some evil, pulverizing hc/punk, up in the gutz of Italo madness ala WRETCHED, as well as retard Clevo shit, and obviously Discharge. The clear vinyl w/ black labels on this looks HOT. Out on Video Disease Records, but looks like he's already sold out. Should be hitting yr favorite distro soon.

Newish 'lo-fi' garage-punk group from Iowa City, IA (You might be a little late for the trend, Iowa). Pretty wyld jams from this 7" from Solid Attitude, whom you might think is some shite youth crew revival band (judging by the name), but this is some real dirty-swanky rock n roll. The second track is called "Solid Mental Attitude" a possible juxtaposition on Unity's first EP?..Which has the second track, "Positive Mental Attitude"...weirdos. Member(s) of 'psychy-noise' outfit Wet Hair to add to the strange scheme of things. The tracks remind a lot of Rocket From The Tombs' 'noiser songs', cool listen. Ill cover art too. Volt - S/T 7"

HOZAC-01 ---- The VOLT 7" is an overlooked 'OG shitgaze' classic, the record is seemingly hard to find online, and in the bin as well- but found myself a copy a few weeks ago. Before I 'scored' this, I could only find stupid clips of the tracks, and kind of gave up my search for the mp3z. Anyways, VOLT are a French synth-punk trio--metallic drum machines, cold synthesizers, with an ear ripping guitar. I was hoping they sounded a bit more like KAS PRODUCT, but they end up sounding like a goofy JAY REATARD//DIGITAL LEATHER hybrid than anywhere in the coldwave realm. A-Side with "Man On The Ground" and "Not You" are total retard-bangers..when the chorus on "MOTG" drops, tha METAL DANCE begins. Sad they used 'Impact font' on the cover...gross dawg...but a pretty rad group of tracks. Guess they have a few more records, that I haven't checked out yet..Late pass I know, this shit came out in like 2006.

Hell yeah, six hot demo cuts from this new supergroup from Tejas, with the hillside stranglaz from TOTAL ABUSE, SACRED SHOCK & FUNCTIONAL BLACKOUTS. These tracks actually remind me a lot of the first FUNCTIONAL BLACKOUTS LP (One of my favorite Chicago records ever),the snotty, funky reverby vocals and that warm, fat, delicious bass, but without the whacko guitar shit, instead with catchy ass retard-slop off the hits of BLOODSTAINS ACROSS TEXAS and assorted KBD bangers. "Birth of Rots" seriously has the catchiest punk riff ever…wanna dance? Guess they already have some singles that are about to be shat out, one soon on HOZAC, surely it will revive the labels punk status....yeah the 7" on HOZAC is OUT NOW, go buy it right now.

Great name? Or greatest name? This band has done something profound, by defying my personal rule of thumb with these Noise/Punk/Whateverthefuck bands of: the recordings ain't as good as the show. Thats saying a hell of a lot considering they kicked my ass live. Both on record, and in their seamless live set, the stand out track has gotta be jöns. I can't wait for the next record, which should no doubt be called Aural.

This one has been out for a bit, but I haven't had a chance to present it much (lazy lazy). When I heard the first Wiccans recordings well over a year ago I was floored, I hadn't heard anything so catchy and distinguished from a modern punk band, I had to do their record. Teenage Cults has the 4 best cuts off the demo, re-mixed and mastered to perfection. Their killer links of speedy USHC styled punk with euphoric double guitar riff attacks on top make the record a total smashing hardcore release...all behind one of the most powerful and glorious throats I've heard since Fucked Up. Wiccans already have an LP recorded, and it's fucking killer, hopefully it should be ready for their tour this summer. Also: PERFECT LIVE BAND, truly a must see. Been a Daily Void fan for quite some time, and just happened to come across this baybie in a new-arrivals bin to my surprise...Hadn't been following the band much since I wasn't too into the Sacred Bones 12" and figured they were busy with other bullshit projectz, but here's a new one by these Chicago noise garage punx. I just read somewhere that people describe them as the 'garage rock Rudimentary Peni', weird. A-side (Before Death) is a total hit, a hunky fuzzball you'd normally expect from these dudes, but the B-side (After Death) is a weirdo, spacey instrumental improv jam that is cool, I guess (This is like...a concept record..right?), would prefer another guitar damage banger, but I am content with these two. Out on the always quality KEN ROCK label in Sweden.

Bought this guy on a whim, thinking it might be cool, since I love the Nerves, and a few of the bands on the comp, and woah it delivers. All these tracks are recorded so well, and executed with finesse. Killer output by Grass Widow, Le Face, White Fence, Hunx & His Punx (they do 'When You Find Out', lol) and all your (probably not) favorite psych-y garage rock bullshit bands. 18 trax of your fave Nerves songs; butchered...or re-lived... 1. The Sleaze - Crush w/ PCP
Thank fucking GOD for this record. Been waiting for the return of the Sleaze since the monumental SMOKIN FUCKIN CIGS ep on Fashionable Idiotos out a few years ago. SO here they are again with two more TOP retardo slop drop speedy freaky anthemz. It's been agreed that PCP truly IS the b-side to Smokinfukincigs. Out on Leather Bar recs, only 300 of these guys so hit up (leatherbar * gmail * com) to shoot up the skuzz. Rest in nicnicnic.

2. Urban Blight - Total War
Undeniably UB is the King Kong of HardCore 2010. If these 5 tracks don't make you do tha step, I really think there's no hope for ya. The key track on here is 'SOCIAL ORDER', the two minute mid-tempo blitzkreg, that plows through the warzone without a scratch. I just ripped this one and I think it sounds better than any I've heard...320KBS of STOMP baby...

3. Homostupids - Night Deacon
Arguably the Homo's best material yet. But it's a no-brainer that this guy had the best one liner of the year...thanks to our pal the bus driver. A 2010 Classic. Brought to you by FashionableIdiots. I guess there's new 12" coming soon!!!!! Plz play Chicago!..or somewhere soon...

4. Vile Gash - S/T
Yow! A true modern classic. When I first heard this one I most excited to the re-recording of that track 'Scum'...that riff...is the catchiest thing ever. Was a little bummed when Unfit wasn't redone (my fave track from the demos), but I will keep my hopes high for a future release maybe...though the new track 'Incapable' gives off a similar slowdeath, masochistic vibe. SICK. This thing is recorded flawlessly too- More scorch in the vox, with the drums in a pummeling d-beat throughout, and a chest-rattling bass that leaves you gasping by the end. Perfecto.

1. Boston Strangler - Outcast
Wowie, this guy is the most exiting demo I've heard all year, not by far though. These tracks just flat out fucking rule. It makes me want to steal a motorcycle and beat up nerds, or something. Yeah. Nothing more to say here. When I pre-ordered the tape, I think I was most excited to get the BXS pin... :O. Pick it up at No Way records if there be any left.

2. Neon Blud - Whipps
I remember hearing this one early in the 2k10, maybe it was even December 09? But whatever, this one is a goodie and I'm sure everyone agrees. Top notch punk tapping into the sounds brought by the early NYC NO WAVE scene. The femme vocals on here are strikingly eery, but also come as deeply lulling. The guitar noises, are just plain genius! Tape has been looong gone, but has been pressed to seven inches via Fan Death recs. Their new LP is out now, and is also GREAT.

3. Weird TV - Demo
Olympia launches out ANOTHER killer band. Wow, there's at least 6 or 7 active bands from that area that are just the cat's pajamas, see: PERENNIAL DEATH. This demo is allll bliss. Easy, snotty, groovy, punk with some sweet sweet female vocals mostly sung in Spanish! What we got here is some perfectly executed late 70's California punk stuff and THEN SOME. Reminds me a lot of the arty-er bands like NO TREND, but it also mostly brings to mind a lot of U.X.A. & the FLESHEATERS stuff; basically just a sweet blend of bands off the TOOTH & NAIL comp. Killer! Here's a vid of them kicking it live, & covering TOTAL ABUSE hehe. Cant wait for the 7".

4. Reckless Aggression - Demo 2010

5. Perdition - 9 Track Kassett
YEAH!!!!!! Perdition fucking kill. I think I took the best punk photo ever when I saw them in NYC back in October, see it in FA #1's centerfold. Fucking NUTZO raw punk, and my favorite of the whole NYC gang. Long live raw punk 2.0. This one is allll Dis-Dis-Distort. download here.

6. No Class - Demo
I posted this baybay soon after I bought it back in April. You've probably heard it already, and their LP too, but I think it deserves a spot here. TUFF hardcore from dudes that are obviously not tough. Apparently the Deranged dawg dropped in on that LP cause he peeped on here first. COOL. The LP is pretty good too. Interviewed in FA #1 as well. 7. Pukeoid - Demo
Real deal North West Indiana hardcore punk. Paying true homage to blazing midwest USHC. I'm talkin' NECROS, WILLFUL NEGLECT, THE FIX, and all the classics. A modern masterpiece. Total Control - "Retiree b/w Meds 2" & "Stare Way"

Okay, Lemme talk about this record since it's the one I heard first out of the two. I first bought this on a whim at Permanent records earlier this year, only knowing that it had members of Eddy Current and SJN/UV Race. At this point, I think it was in February, or March, when I was really digging deep on synthpunk naughties like Nervous Gender, as well as a lot of minimal synth//postpunk shit like Minimal Man and and Snowy Red, so it was perfect timing...and I loved the fuck out of this rec, probably didn't leave my turntable for a few days. Total Control is genius really, reviving the minimal synth and experimental post-punk eras and throwing it out to a hc/punk audience (this one is on Iron Lung Recs). "Retiree" is a dance-y, synth heavy hit, definitely taking strong sides of the french 80's coldwave scene as well as the LA synthpunk groups ala NervGender and the Screamers; it makes me real hot. The b-side is a dark, cold, bleed-out track, which sucks out all my loneliness. SOYOUNGBUTSOCOLD.
This is still available I think @ Iron Lung HQ--- It also looks like Iron Lung has an LP for Total Control in the near future - hope I don't pee my pants.

So it wasn't until about 6 months after I got the Retiree 7" that I heard the Stare Way 7" which came out in like fucking...2008 or something. I had been looking for it, but couldn't find it online and the record had been sold out for sometime already. I hadn't even come across 'Stare Way' until after I saw em live w/ UV Race. So eventually I found a link online and GOD, I came- I was floored really. This first record is so so so much different than the "Retiree" record, and 100% captures the steeze of their live gigs. On this one, there's hardly any use of synths or electronics, but rockin' guitars and smashing live drums. I kind of think of it as the 'HARDPUNK' EddyCurrent. The shit's realfast, realgroovy, ohsocatchy, and those Australian accents....makin' my heart throb. A killerkiller Swell Maps cover is on here too, one of my true favorite bands. This record really has infinite replay value. Smart Guy records just repressed this rec in the states, as well as a new single for Total Control titled "Paranoid Video", which traverses more into the world of new-wave minimal synth for the 2k10 (WINDOWS XP SAMPLES!!). God. I FUCKING LOVE The UV Race. Got to see them three fucking times in September, along with Total Control (who are absolutely mind blowing live). Honestly, they are the best punk band right meow-not many bands get the hair on my neck to stand on end. Anyways..new tape I picked up from em when they played Chicago, all these tracks are going onto an LP that should be available real soon, (not sure who's putting it out). 10 more brilliant tracks of fuzzed out punk the way Aussies have always been kickin' it (see: The Victims, The Clean, The Numbers, etc.). On this guy there's a bit more discordant noisey bumps and experimentation (the LP spans almost 35 minutes), but still perfectly captures the catchy KBD garage steeze. Ripped in two tracks, sorry, shit would have taken forever.

The recordings are fairly 'modern' sounding, not the monolithic 'fast n pissed' get up, but it does kinda has the same production of a Ceremony record or something...but without the faggotry. This post from Kevin covering thier EP introduced me to this great band. I listened to that once and couldn't get my hands on it soon enough, I have since spun that record to a pulp. But I was actually getting quite frustrated because I could not find any information on this band that I love so much (just found this). Imagine my surprise when I walk into Extreme Noise to find this LP front and center. Boy it does not disappoint, 8 songs and 16 minutes of bliss in the form of female fronted melodic not-quite-hardcore punk. I am a bit conflicted about this record, because on one hand it sounds just like the 7", which is great, but I would love to hear where this band could take things. The temperature is a pretty consistent 50-something degrees, the trees are beginning to look bare, it smells like dead leaves, and I have this album running through my head over and over. It must be fall. As silly as it sounds one of the best descriptions for this band that I've read is "post-post hardcore". It's exactly what you would expect when you consider who's in the band, Amy Farina and Ian MacKaye, who were in The Warmers and Fugazi respectively. The sound is somewhere between those two bands but much more mellow/mature, with Mackaye suppressing his bark and actually hitting some notes (Farina aint no slouch on vocals either). So yeah, I did another Dischord post, and these two got a kid to feed so buy it from 'em.

The only problem with this is the hole in the record is a bit small so it's hard to get off, it doesn't really matter though, you're not going to want to take it off anyways. Walls finally offer some new rippers after touring off those two 12"s for almost the past two years. This single has two new downer, Rorschach-esque, savage slammers and a delightful cover of the great Midwest USHC champions, Die Kreuzen. Very nice screened covers on this record too. If you haven't heard the Warning//Warning demo of last year yet, please get yer head out of yr ass. I'm kind of confused by this band though...They're from France, but sing in English, but have Japanese song titles/printed lyrics. I don't think anyone in this band is from Japan either, "Fabro, Nico, Olive, and Fish" all sound pretty frenchie to me. I also don't know if they're just a bunch of French hipsters that discovered recordings sound 'cool' if you set up a recorder in a tin-can across the room combined with delayed vocals, and somehow got a cool graphic designer to punk-out all their artwork. Whatever. Who cares. This shit is great. Total Japanese noisecore worship, in the vein of bands like Tranquilizer, Confuse, Coward etc. Classic "broken english" styled lyrics and killer wah-pedal effects too. I guess some of these dudes were in that french raw-punk band Gasmask Terror. Hope this guys head to the states soon. The first track is titled in Japanese text, but, I obviously don't know Japanese, or where to find those stupid characters on the internet, so deal with it. Some essential early 2000's Boston HC right for yas. One of the more under-rated/under-listened bands of that era, the A-TEAM. This shit is the REAL DEAL and just plain hard. Also probably one of the best cuts of the early 00's. Killer riffs, crucial mosh parts, and some nasty hooks, making this 7" a true "no slow all go" masterpiece. If any record could amount to heroin or something...this might be it. I'd been meaning to listen to this band for so long and could never find copies off or online, but finally snagged a copy of off ebay recently, so here it is. This is also Painkiller 001. Rip it up.

The band started as ex-Charles Bronson/MK-Ultra, now these dudes are still shredding in bands like Manipulation, Herds, Chronic Siezure RIP. This Lengua Armada hit has been out of the press for quite some time, good luck finding this gem. A true classic.

Here's an awesome band that I've rediscovered in a big bad way the past couple weeks. I first found out about Operation Makeout a few years ago when I was first getting heavy into Sleater-Kinney and wanted to find something akin to them. And yes they do sound a lot like S-K, but one thing they do not have that this band does is some great dueling male/female vocals at times reminiscent of X. It seems that people have pretty much forgotten about them (if they even bothered to learn in the first place) which is a shame because a lot of people are missing out on some catchy tunes.

Following the same direction as Fucked Up with their handful of "Mixtapes" they've released over the years. Young Guv brings us his Mixtape featuring unreleased recordings of Marvelous Darlings, The Bitters, and Guv himself. Strange and hilarious Remixes, odd samples, and random audio like "A Christmas Message from Dwid Hellion" on Fucked Up's 3rd Mixtape. The hit on here is "Jonas Brothers ft. Demi Levato and Guv - This Is Me". The mixtape ends with Guv saying, "This is the stupidest thing I've ever done". Almost a half hour of entertainment and hot fuzzed-out punk jams. Omegas - Psycho Dives on Slam Skank Anthems

Canada strengthens their reigns on hardcore with Montreal's, Omegas. Psycho Dives on Slam Skank Anthems was their first offering released back in late 2008 then pressed to wax in 09. This 4 song demo is six minutes of everything that I love about hardcore. Omegas keep things loose, bringing to mind some Boston favorites ala DYS and jams off Is This My World?& maybe a little bit of Government Issue. Recording on this release is off-the-wall perfect, Jonah Falco must have had some kind of touch to this fierce demo. As the title suggests, there's no real better way to describe this perfect release other than Psycho Dives on Slam Skank Anthems. This tape is finally sold out but a new Omegas 7" is out now on High Anxiety records- Copies are in the Parts Unknown store as well. KICK IT.

White Walls - Demo & Live 02.06.2010

I saw this band last night in Chicago. The set was great, the singer has a great voice and a pretty tight group of musicians as well- no sloppiness. I think they played all their songs too. White Walls play a kind of discordant, ugly brew of hardcore, not too different than the recent Sex/Vid and Cult Ritual. Feedback ridden guitars and shrieking, dissonant vocals take place as a muddy tone gravitates with My War style riffing. The demo is a 5 track, 8 minute long ripper (My favorite song being "The Great Excuse". Mosh.), courtesy of the band. The live recording takes 3 new songs, two from the demo, and a cover of Nirvana's "Territorial Pissings". Ohio takes heed to another young hardcore great. Scapegoat - Tour CS

New tour-only cassette from one of Boston's most punishing bands. The tape has 8 new ruthless Crossed Out-styled rippers, a very tasteful Anti-Cimex cover, and a live set from 2007. I like these new songs more than the ones that were on the Painkiller 7". These new ones are written so much better with more speed and vigorous execution. I sadly didn't see this band on their tour, but had a pal pick up a tape for me. All sold out, all gone. I split the tape into two tracks: One being the new material, and the other being the live in Ventura, California- I included a picture of the tracklisting in the folder for babies who want to know. I heard a rip of this on some other blog and it was fucking horrible. This one I did sounds quite a bit better. Just sayin.

Morpheme - S/T 7"

Latest contribution to the world from Prank records. Morpheme, from the bay area of California present us with a total fury of tumultuous hardcore punk, not unlike Japanese legends Confuse & Gauze. The singer of Morpheme is from Japan and the entire record is sung in Japanese. Morpheme also have an awesome Scandinavian HC feel ala Anti-Cimex and Mob 47. Morpheme appeared on a split with Japan's D-Clone earlier in 2009. They're now broken up, and members now play in Yadokai (Their demo is a few posts down). Limited white vinyl of this 7" is still available to order.

The test presses for the 7" will be approved very shortly along with artwork and layout by Raw Nerve guitarist Ryan Lowry. The band is Much Worse, originating from Minneapolis. Proper Execute is 7 tracks of ripping, high energy hardcore punk with Japanese-esque vocal delivery ala Outo. Lots of bright & off the wall riffs similar to Japanese bands: Jellyroll Rockheads & Gauze but with with a solid USHC feel in the vein of Poison Idea and Jerry's Kids. Perfectly executed recordings. Crime Desire - In Lucifer's Grip

One of the most fierce EPs recorded in the last 5 years. Crime Desire are seemingly one of the only bands around that are doing things right. This 7" is 5 tracks of the most blistering, menacing, and corrosive hardcore punk. I've heard people best describe Crime Desire as "Satanic Hardcore". The vocals on here are most frenzied- almost to a Doc Dart level. I'm a fan of the other Crime Desire records but I don't know if they'll ever top this one. I'm sure there's plenty of these still around-these recordings are also on one of the LP's that was released in 08. They just recently went on a West Coast tour for a new 12" they've released, I can't wait to hear it. Life's a Rape.

Condominium - Live at the Bloc

New seven song cassette release by Minneapolis' damaged jangle punk quartette. Condominium takes the best of all of their past 7"s and play a new one (which is great) and have crammed it onto this tape, released by some random cassette label based in Poland called Blinded Records. Limited to 100-possibly a few left from the label. E-mail blindedrec[at]o2.pl for info. I believe it's only 7ppd to ship all the way from euroland. All tracks recorded live in a basement somewhere in the Twin Cities. Condominium stay true to their roots and end the tape with a great cover of Glue by SSD. Second 7" from Young Governor. I bought this from Shitty Limits when they played in Minneapolis last summer. If you're unfamiliar with the Yung Guv, it's Ben Cook of No Warning/Fucked Up/Violent Minds fame doing his own solo lofi-garage-pop spiel. The two previous Yung Guv releases have been more than great. This EP is just 2 more ultra-fuzzed garage punk hits with tinges of pleasurable anxiety. My ears first tuned in to this Demo from clicking a link being spammed on el Jerkbooth. These are some of the best Demo recordings I've heard in quite a while. Members of Ecoli and Nightstick Justice play some exceptionally unique hardcore punk that's surprisingly quite hard to pin down. The Demo titled "Sterile Environment" has 5 tracks of utmost chaotic and blistering hardcore punk with a well executed noise-punk edge. I can hear quite a bit of H100s and Koro but with their own unique feedback-ridden sound. This is for sure something you'll want to hear. Shang-a-Lang - Summertime

Whats that? You want some folksy-lo-fi-pop-punk about the fun of summer, during the dead of winter? You got it. I found out about this band from the near endless, but well deserved, hype from net cartoonist Mitch Clem (check out Nothing Nice to Say, if you haven't already). Of Shang-a-Lang's 2 7" EPs, 6 split 7"s, and spankin' new LP(out on Fast Crowd) this is their finest, though I recommend trying to track them all down. This is a split release from Dirt Cult and Let's Pretend Records, so get it from one of them. It's winter, and it's damn cold out there, but hopefully this will warm you up a little bit.

Bear Proof Suit - Science is Dead

Here's one that I picked up on a whim at Extreme Noise after I recalled seeing an interview in Razorcake, I'm glad I did. Hailing from Milwaukee, WI, Bear Proof Suit play what I guess I'd describe as, Husker Du's harder songs but with sabbathy guitar leads (probably a bad comparison, but fuck it). I'm not going to lie, I wasn't all that impressed with the record the first couple times through...but damn! did it sink some hooks into me, I could not get "Prosecutors Will Be Violated" out of my head (in a good way). You can buy this EP (includes 3 originals and a Wipers cover) on sale from Criminal IQ Records. If it doesn't hit you at first, I beg that you give it a few more spins, it'll grow on you.

What all you scrubs have been waiting for. Finally had the chance to rip this YA! distro gem today. Members of Aerosols do a total Japanese humbug with Viper- even down to the label name - "Skeleton Records". For fans of early, menacing Japanese hardcore ala GISM, Zouo, & Baws. 6 Songs, each named after the seven deadly sins. The lyrics are ridiculously awesome "Ill keep feeding you, you fat fuck-just because I like to watch you grow". Ever see the movie Se7en with Brad Pitt? Well, this would be a great soundtrack for that serial killer Kevin Spacey character. Lot's of awesome hand drawn artwork on the insert along with an odd collage poster.

While three quarters of Cold Sweat went to play in Walls, The vocalist went on to bark in this band, Repercussions- members of Deathreat and Pedestrians are also here, making them a little bit of a super group. Think of ol' USHC ala Poison Idea with those poles apart Cold Sweat vocals, and the hard to swallow Rorschach sound. Hateful and diseased lyrical themes. A truly awesome band. This 12" came out in 2007 on 540 records-was fairly limited and now sold out. Also released an awesome 7" on Feral Ward in 08, probably not too hard to find. Singer is now in Men's Interest and Country Club, Drummer is in Static Shock, & Bassist is the head coordinator of MRR. RIP. Download if you're not a retard.

Low Threat Profle - 7" EP

After almost a decade in the making, the Low Threat Profile 7" is finally here. Andy from No Comment sings, Matt Domino of Infest is on Guitar, and Bob of Lack of Interest plays drums. Basically what we have here is a dream lineup. It pretty much picks up where No Man's Slave ended: All speed and total power. Not really into the cover art, but wow, a great fucking record. Pretty sure the mailorder red vinyl edition is gone, but pay 6 ppd to deep6rec[at]aol.com to receive a copy; I might email him first though. Like No Man's Slave, the tracklisting on the back of the record is different than what the insert says...I just took from what the sleeve said so- whatever. Solo electronic/experimental project of Steve from Homostupids/9 Shocks- one could probably guess this is Homostupids related just by viewing the cover. This is very rad though. Lot's of synths and great mechanized noises- I am not sure how to elaborate. Similar to that one song on the The Brutal Birthday by Homostupids. The last track is just a sample of that song used the film Nashville, hah. Released on My Mind's Eye & Sold out; probably in some dollar bins (where I got mine). Church Police - Gilligan's Wings

3 Unreleased tracks from Bay Area's dirged-out Church Police. Recorded in 1982, but only surfaced in 2007 by the help of Skulltones. I found this quick sell-out in a bin at Mississippi Records in Portland. Church Police play the Artpunk/New Wave/Industrial thing: True downer-punk. Think of early Texas punk and weird-core ala Blight. I guess they were so called proteges to Flipper. Also had an article in the very first issue of MRR. Guinea Kid - Tape EP

I just heard this band last night. A group 17-year-olds from north west Indiana playing amazing hardcore punk that's SO much better than most of the garbage that's been coming out recently. I guess they've been playing in this band since they were 14 too. They're aggressive and ripping with some bright melodic guitar-work noodled in--which ends up sounding fucking awesome. Sounds a lot like Ill Repute and Adolescents with a little well added mosh. Singer has his snotty so-cal skate punk vocals down perfectly. I have nothing bad to say about this, so much good. I wish I was apart of something this cool when I was in high school. I'm not sure where you can get this but Not Normal released it, contact them. Only Side A/B for now.

Bad Choice - Demo 09

Picked up this guy at the Urban Blight show last night. Bad Choice are another Toronto band. This demo is pretty great, definitely reflects the current sounds of Toronto. Obviously influenced by Boston and New York hardcore scenes circa 1982. Check it out if you like The Abused, DYS, Jerry's Kids, SSD, Sheer Terror, and all the NYC/Boston true favorites. I've heard people say they're the best thing since 86 Mentality. Get the tape from the band, Gravemistake also has copies. The band has their demo for download on their myspace, it's the same rip. Dig it.

Ripping hardcore punk from these Winnipeg lads and lassie? Think Necros, Die Kruzen, and Deep Wound. Saw them in the spring and enjoyed the set thoroughly. This tape has the recordings of the "Trainwreck" 7" that was supposed to be released by Firestarter, but hasn't happened yet due to a lot of delays and bullshit. Getting Even - Demo 2009

A bunch of old hardcore dudes playing hardcore punk like they were 18 again. I wanna say Getting Even are a spark to this burnt out scene in Minneapolis. Even though most of these dudes are in their 30's (the oldies were in Holding On, Pandamonium, Kill Sadie, plus more) they still know how to fucking rip. I'd best describe Getting Even as playing mid-tempo hardcore punk in the vein of Bl'ast, Damaged era Black Flag, and some Age of Quarrel hardness. Lot's of cool Ginn riffage (band name is from a Greg Ginn album?). All I can say is that this is a really solid hardcore demo. Dig it. No they sound nothing like Infest like the logo may suggest.

Bought this at the MK-Ultra Reunion Pre-Show with Raw Nerve, Manipulation, and Duress. This 'cassingle' is certainly not as good as the last two demos, but it's worth checking out if you're into the other stuff. I think the problem is that the cassette itself stinks, and you can't hear shit. 3 songs. Two very brief new ones and an awesome YDI cover. Not sure if the band has any left. Dangerloves

Toronto's punk scene is amazing. Some of my favorite bands live there (Urban Blight, Career Suicide, and all the great shit members of Fucked Up are doing; especially Jonah's band Mad Men--check out the demo here). Anyways, another great band from Toronto are the Dangerloves. Female-fronted power pop of the catchiest mold. Dangerloves formed in 2006 and broke up about a year ago- probably to dedicate more time to Urban Blight, Reprobates, and Career Sucide. They released three 7" singles, on Fashionable Idiots, Dead Idea, and Static Shock. Pretty sure they're all sold out from the labels but I've seen the first two 7"s in a million used bins for super cheap. I'm uploading two of the singles, find the Static Shock one on your own. You'll be playing these singles over and over and over.

No Balls 7"

"No Balls is usually Drajan Bryngelsson and Dan Råberg from Brainbombs but this 7” is just Drajan. Monotonous protopunk with some No Wave hints. Drums and guitars. Some vocals and trumpets occasionally. The sound is raw, intense and in your face. Kind of like a mix of Ruins, DNA and Brainbombs." This 7" came to me a few days ago. Paid 15 dollars to ship from Sweden on an whimsical guess that it would be great; Brainbombs are one of my favorite bands. The record is okay, I thought it was a little boring but if you're into repetitive, sludgy, noise rock; it's worth a listen. 7" is sold out, but a No Balls LP is out soon on Release The Bats(pre-order here).

Minutemen - Buzz Or Howl Under The Influence Of Heat

With "Buzz Or Howl" the Minutemen cement themselves as the funkiest band in 80's hardcore (tho one could make a argument for the Big Boys). Really hitting their stride this album is a great setup to the quintessential "Double Nickels On The Dime". Taking a cue from Wire the Minutemen play some very oddly structured songs, for example, "Dream Told By Moto" which finds Mike Watt and George Hurley showing off why they are the tightest rhythm section in town, and just when you think its just going to be them jamming for the duration of the song, D. Boon chimes in for a single sentence about what he's going to do when WWIII starts, before the song fizzles out... awesome. This record shouldn't be that hard to track down, but you could always buy it from SST. Quit slacking and download this.
